A Leg Up

In my last post I talked about my mysterious pain in my foot that has left me completely immobile. I've kept it up on pillows, kept lots of ice on it, and have tried to stay off of it for 2 days, without any improvement :(

There's still some good news, though! I don't have a blood clot, so that is wonderful! I have to take blood-thinning shots the whole time we're on vacation, as usual, but I'm really excited I don't currently have a clot! We were worried for a little bit that my hematologist wasn't going to let me travel at all, but that fear is gone. She said, "if you have a little clot, you can still go...if it's big, we'll need to talk." Since we're leaving a week from today, that was pretty scary to hear!
So She sent me over to immediately have an ultrasound on my leg, and I got the call this morning to let me know there officially was no clot. They said I needed to find an orthopedic doctor now because I could have a torn muscle or tendon...but I think it's SUPER unlikely that it would be a torn muscle. We're thinking torn, or tearing, tendon. Hopefully it isn't so damaged I'd need surgery. Maybe it's just super bruised? Yeah. I'm gonna go with that!

For now, I'm just going to stay off of it and pray that it gets better on its own! I can't put any weight on it, and crutches are totally no fun, so we decided to order a walking boot so I can get around in Colorado without too much trouble. I really don't feel like seeing a doctor AGAIN this week, and I'm even more tired of tests. Besides, there's almost no chance for me to get into a specialist like that in less than a week. If it's not too bad, it should heal on its own if I keep off it and keep it stable. If it's not okay, then the time we're gone should be a good indication and I'll see a doctor when we're back. I'll be fine :)

The good news about this boot is that it had excellent reviews, it's much cheaper than those at pharmacies and such, and almost all of the reviews had similar issues as mine and a lot of orthopedic surgeons prescribed the same one. I'm hoping having something to keep my foot stable at all times will speed up the healing process!

I'm still so relieved it isn't another clot! Everyone was so grim there for a while! I need to stay active, though, or I'll develop one! Kind of a catch 22, if you ask me. That's where the fancy boot comes in :) It will be a PAIN, but it's a much better alternative to my other options, haha.

For now, I'm still being instructed to keep it up as much as possible. It's so frustrating because I keep looking around seeing things I need to do in the house! Ugh! Go figure...

In other news: Yesterday was my beloved husband's birthday and he spent it watching me sleep (thank you, pain reliever!) and driving me all over to different doctors. I wish he could have had a better day! I love you so much, Randy! You are so, so loved! Thank you for taking such great care of Pepper and I! We love you!

Fortunately, the day wasn't all lost...his precious parents brought us dinner in the form of delicious, homemade soup :) I love them so much and really appreciate them helping to make R's birthday everything I couldn't.

A great friend of mine said something the other day that struck me...she said, "Girl! Your life. God has big plans for your life. He's preparing you for something big :)"
Even though this has been super discouraging and kind of depressing, that helped give me a lot of hope. Thanks, Brandi! He is good, even in this. I definitely don't understand any of this, but He is still there, He is good, and He is working for my good. So for now, I'm going to keep my leg up and maybe my chin, too :)
