A Leg Up

Image
In my last post I talked about my mysterious pain in my foot that has left me completely immobile. I've kept it up on pillows, kept lots of ice on it, and have tried to stay off of it for 2 days, without any improvement :( There's still some good news, though! I don't have a blood clot, so that is wonderful! I have to take blood-thinning shots the whole time we're on vacation, as usual, but I'm really excited I don't currently have a clot! We were worried for a little bit that my hematologist wasn't going to let me travel at all, but that fear is gone. She said, "if you have a little clot, you can still go...if it's big, we'll need to talk." Since we're leaving a week from today, that was pretty scary to hear! So She sent me over to immediately have an ultrasound on my leg, and I got the call this morning to let me know there officially was no clot. They said I needed to find an orthopedic doctor now because I could have a torn musc

Sorry it has been a while since I posted...I have been working on a post for at least 2 weeks (still working on that one) but it isn't coming along as fast as I'd like, so it's still in "drafts". Well, the next week I had 2 CT scans that had been a PAIN to schedule and one of them had iv contrast involved. Sometimes it is referred to as "iodine contrast". I've had a reaction to it once in the past, but it was incredibly minor and I have had several CT scans with contrast since then with no probl

I have been so proud of how things have been going with my health in the last month! As mentioned in earlier posts, I used to have a lot of my pain at night - especially around 2 or 3 am - and it was really severe. I never get much sleep, but Randy wasn't getting a lot of sleep during this time, and that was a problem. With the exception of one or two nights, I have been doing really well lately! They seem to have found a good combination of meds and things to help me! It has been great :) That all changed starting last Wednesday or so... I had one night where my legs had some pretty severe shooting pains, but it wasn't too bad. ^this is how small they are! Thursday night, I went to the restroom for a second before bed. After that, I suddenly started coughing uncontrollably. It was the kind of "pressured" cough vs. a tickle in your throat or something. So I hurried to the kitchen to grab these pills Dr. P prescribed me for a cough. Normally, they're i
