End of 26wks and the ER

Image
We had a super fun Friday at the end of 25wks. (March 3rd) I was woken up at 5am with a terrible pain in my right side, but I figured it was gas or something and went back to sleep. I got up later around 9am with the same pain, but a bit worse. I honestly didn't think too much about it. It was uncomfortable, but not scary or anything. Fast forward to around 3pm or so and it's starting to become pretty uncomfortable, but still not unbearable. It for sure wasn't the round ligament stretching I've been feeling. It had gotten to where I would feel mostly find if I was sitting still, but if I went from sitting to standing it was pretty painful. By about 5pm, standing at all was horribly painful, walking killed me, and pretty much everything else but sitting still. So finally I told Randy I needed to go to the ER. We hate the ER, but we were concerned about the baby. I had been feeling kicks all day, but the pain was causing me to tense up pretty badly and I was having a bit...

24 Weeks!

Image
How far along:  24wks 1 day Baby's Size:  About 1' long, and just over 1lb!! (we're out of inches and ounces!!) - about the size of a cantaloupe or an ear of corn. Heartbeat:  134bpm - exactly 10bpm down from 4 weeks ago and absolutely perfect Gender:  It's a surprise! Weight gain:  about  5-7lbs Maternity clothes: All the time! A lot of my shirts still fit because I prefer more flowy vs clingy shirts anyway, but I like to wear maternity shirts because it shows off my belly a bit more :) I'm wearing some maternity jeans, but I kept a lot of my jeans from before I lost 65lbs, so they fit...although they're even getting a little snug as the bump grows! I need to go buy a few more pairs of maternity jeans. Today my belly looked HUGE. Randy came home from work to go to our appointment, smiled at me, and said, "you look really pregnant today."  Stretch marks:  I already have stretch marks from gaining and then losing 65lbs, but...

19 Week Update - Halfway There!

Image
Since I'm being induced at 38 weeks, 19 weeks marked the halfway point!  Don't let the purple or blue fool you. I just like those colors 😬 How far along:  Just over 19 weeks (although baby is measuring 3 days ahead, so closer to 20wks right now) Baby's Size: About 5.9" long, 10oz - about the size of a mango or heirloom tomato. Heartbeat:  It was 144bpm today Gender:  It's a surprise! Weight gain: about  2lbs Maternity clothes:  A few things here and there. I'm actually wearing my first maternity shirt today. I haven't needed them because of my natural preference for flowy clothes. Randy used to joke that if I was showing too much before we announced I was pregnant no one would guess. I have gotten a couple maternity pants (LOVE) but I'm mostly just wearing the kind that have the stretchy triangles instead of the full belly panel jeans. I can still wear some of my old jeans, but I have to put a separate belly band on them and ...

Christmas Vacation

Image
Time has finally slowed down just a bit - praise the Lord! Thanksgiving through the new year was insane for us! 16 weeks! The week of Thanksgiving, we had a major dinner for Randy's work, then we saw our little nugget again (picture from that appointment in last post), told our families, publicly announced the news, spent Thanksgiving day with his family, then my mom & stepdad came up to spend the weekend with us. The following week, we had a Christmas party/dinner for Randy's work on Monday night, and Tuesday I left to see my dad & stepmom in Kentucky through Friday. The next Monday, Randy flew to India for 2 weeks for work, and I was home with the furry children. Finally, he came back for a week and life seemed somewhat calm. That Thursday, we had another ultrasound and a few more genetic tests - all of which came back perfectly normal! part of Randy's Christmas present :) Friday we drove down to see my family for Christmas, and drove off Dec 26th fo...

It has been a while!

I figure with the baby coming I should probably get to writing again. The original purpose of this blog was to keep everyone I can't talk to individually up to date on what's happening in our world. So let's bring you up to date! In case you somehow didn't know or read the first part of this post...I'm pregnant! I'm 14 weeks along and the baby is due the first of June. Now, if you're somewhat good at math and/or have a due date calculator, that doesn't make a lot of sense. Well, due to my clotting disorder, they're inducing me at 38 weeks so they have a little more control over delivery. I have to take a blood thinning shot every day because the disorder I have can cause blood clots in the placenta, which can cause serious problems, including miscarriage. So...bad... Anyway, they're switching me to a different shot around 35 weeks that leaves the bloodstream faster in case of early labor or the need for a c-section. Because the likelihood fo...

I had an interesting thought as a sweet kitten came to snuggle in my lap this afternoon... Meet Penny - Penny is a super sweet cat, but she's definitely the worrier of the pack. She hates being picked up unless you do it a certain way, which usually includes holding her feet so she isn't dangling,  but even still you can feel her little body tense up. She panics when you leave her in a room, and she generally loves to be near you and less on you like her two siblings. Though she loves to play fetch (weird, right?) she won't go after her toy mouse if one of the other cats or the dog is near where it lands. She just looks back at you with a terrified expression. Penny definitely wears her worry on her sleeve...er, fur? So today as she came to cuddle on my lap, which I LOVED, I noticed something as I went to rub her head - she watched my hand come near her with fear. As soon as I touched her head her expression softened, but it made me a little sad to think she was afraid...
