Crazy Love

Image
I think I promised a really, really long time ago to tell the full story of how Randy & I met and got together. It really is a crazy story, and it definitely shows The Lord's hand in bringing us together from a very early time. Since it's Valentine's Day, now seemed like a good time to share "the story of us." photo by McKenzie Baird I'll begin with where things start from my end... When I was about to be a senior in high school, my mom was going insane because I wasn't even thinking about which schools I wanted to attend once I graduated. I had no clue. I didn't even know where to begin. At that time, she was working at our church in the creative arts department and a friend from church, whom I didn't know well at the time, was interning with the youth department and told my mom about her university a few hours away. Before I even knew what was going on, we were scheduled for a trip to go visit and I was furious. I had a boyfriend bac...

This has been a great birthday week! I have found myself thinking of my birthday last year, and this year has definitely been a step up! If you've known me for a while, or have been reading this blog a while, then you might remember my hospital stay last year on the week of my birthday. I was there for epilepsy monitoring, to see if I really had epilepsy or not. Fortunately, the results revealed I did not have epilepsy, but it began a new part of our journey to find out what was causing my seizures. Not sure if we're too much closer to figuring everything out, but at least I'm not back there. So for my 23rd birthday, I decided this is going to be a new year, full of new and exciting things! I wasn't really planning making a sweeping declaration like that, but I've been making some decisions lately, and it just seemed like where my life was supposed to be this year. I'm excited! I think a lot of you have already seen it, but Randy & I have put togethe...

Shocking

Image
Sunday morning was very shocking for Randy & I, in the most ridiculous of ways. this is my "shocked!" picture :) p.s. DO NOT put "shocking" into google images... Around 5:30am or so, I stumbled onto the couch from the chair I had apparently fallen asleep in while doing some homework the night before. I have been really sick for the past week, so sitting has felt a little better for me anyway. When I lay down these days, my lungs flip out and the inhaler I haven't really needed in almost 4 years is a desperate lifeline. I've had that thing practically glued to my hand in the last week and a half or so. Anyway, I fell asleep in the chair and decided to just switch to the couch instead of waking Randy up when I realized it was 5 in the morning. He's the type that if he's woken up after about 3am, he's going to stay awake no matter what and I wanted him to get just a little more sleep. I remember falling asleep and I think I was there a ...

I wrote a blog a little less than a month ago titled " Create " about my passion for art and I decided to do a sequel of sorts about my passion for gardening . Art has pretty much always been a major passion of mine, but I recently discovered my passion for gardening in the last 2 years, mostly thanks to my sweet husband. Most of my memories of gardening from childhood include me pulling weeds -_- However, Mema and I spent as much time as we could in the orchard back in Kentucky. Those are sweet, sweet memories. If you spend any time around me, or are friends with me on facebook/instagram, then I'm sure you have heard allllllll about my garden. Sorry...you might want to stop here if you're sick of it!  But if you love gardening as much as I do, and you are at all interested in what may be going into our garden soon, then keep reading!  I have been very blessed by my husband who has given me a huge, beautiful garden! He loves gardening, too, so he wa...

TWO.

Two years. For a little context, I began writing this just before our anniversary, but couldn't finish because the light from the screen kept waking Randy up, haha! Warning: this post comes with a LOT of pictures of Randy & I! Enter at your own risk... I am writing this just 45 minutes before my second anniversary to my beloved husband and my heart is filled with joy to think back at how much things have changed. As I write this, I am sitting on a hotel bed, just as I was the night before our wedding. Except I was not sitting next to my sleeping husband (or my sleeping/awake fiancé, for those wondering!) either. No, I was in a room with my maid of honor, Katie, giggling about how I couldn't sleep, but needed to be awake in 4 hours. I couldn't wait to be Mrs. Byers - someone I still can't believe I have the honor of being. Last month, Randy surprised me by telling me he had planned a trip for our anniversary. We have a lot of airline miles because of bu...

Blue Christmas

Image
I have had this song stuck in my head for a week. Why? I don't know...I can't even remember the last time I actually heard "Blue Christmas"! Then the craziness of my life happened, and I actually had a very blue Christmas indeed. I'll begin on Saturday, December 21. I had my first class of my winter english class and I was not terribly thrilled about being in class on Saturday morning, and I was even less thrilled about being there from 9-3. Just knowing it wouldn't be much longer until I was on a plane to go see my family for Christmas was enough to drive me crazy! Then something crazy happened...I discovered how incredible my professor is! She kind of looks like Meg Ryan a little bit - from her You've Got Mail days, and she is SO passionate about literature. I knew within about 20 minutes that this class was going to be one of the best classes I will ever take. She is incredible. I cried during the first half of her lecture because it was so pow...
